In 2025, the Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS) under the European Commission released its latest evaluation of Tea Tree Oil (CAS/EC No. 68647-73-4 / 285-377-1) — the official SCCS/1681/25 Opinion adopted on 28 May 2025.
According to this scientific opinion:
“Tea Tree Oil (TTO) is considered safe as an anti-seborrheic and antimicrobial agent up to 1.0% in face wash, 1.0% in shower gel, and 0.1% in face cream when it conforms to ISO 4730:2017 and is not aerosolized.”
